COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - Two firefighters taken to the hospital from a fire scene Thursday evening have been treated and released.

Brick Lewis with the Columbia Fire Department said crews responded to a large debris fire behind a recycling plant in the 1100 block of Shop Rd at about 5 p.m. Thursday.

Lewis said employees at the plant provided equipment to help firefighters battle the blaze. All employees got out safely.

Lewis was restricted from releasing the nature of the injuries to the firefighters, or how they were injured, but he said both suffered minor injuries.
