ELGIN, SC (WIS) - Firefighters have not yet released the cause of a fire that destroyed two businesses in Elgin Sunday.

The Kershaw County Fire Marshall says the fire started at Jesus Auto Repair on Railroad Avenue and blazed through a connecting business.

Investigators say Sloan Roofing and Repair on Rose Street was destroyed.

Officials say the fire was accidental but it is unclear how the fire started. The investigation into the cause of the fire continues.

Elgin residents say they heard a loud explosion early Sunday afternoon and some say smoke could be seen for several blocks near US 1.

No injuries have been reported.
