Lexington County voters set to elect new sheriff
LEXINGTON COUNTY, SC (WIS) - Voters in Lexington County elect a new sheriff for the first time in four decades Tuesday.
Republican Jay Koon is the only official candidate on the ballot after he won the GOP primary.
No Democrat is running against him.
Koon will become Lexington County's sheriff unless a write-in candidate earns more votes.
The Lexington County Office of Voter Registration and Elections says all precincts are open from 7 a.m. - 7 p.m.
James Metts served as sheriff for more than 40 years before he was indicted on federal charges in 2014.
