COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - A man has been charged with felony DUI and several other crimes after police say he caused a three-vehicle crash in Columbia Saturday night that killed a woman.
Columbia police say 30-year-old Arthuro Rios Torres was driving on the 3100 block of Percival Road when he hit a vehicle in the left turn lane from behind, causing it to drive into oncoming traffic and crash into a southbound vehicle.
Investigators say the driver of third vehicle, 61-year-old Roxina Howell Mack, died at the scene. Police say Torres left the scene of the accident but was eventually arrested at a nearby mobile home park.
Torres has been charged with hit and run involving death, hit and run attended vehicle with injury, failure to give information and render aid habitual offender; no driver's license, driving under suspension; second offense and failure to report an accident involving death.
The Columbia Police Department is investigating the crash.
