Sheriff's department hosts informational session for potential deputies

LEXINGTON, SC (WIS) - The Lexington County Sheriff's Department is hosting an informational session Thursday morning for people interested in becoming a sheriff's deputy or correctional officer.
The session is at 10 a.m. and includes a tour of facilities, question and answer session and an opportunity to submit a job application. It is at the Lexington County Law Enforcement Training Center, 521 Gibson Road in Lexington. The session will last until about 12:30 p.m.
Applicants for correctional officer must be at least 21 years old, have a high school diploma (or GED-equivalent), possess a clean criminal record, and must be a United States Citizen. Prior military experience is a plus for corrections officers, but not required.
To qualify as a patrol officer, applicants must be at least 21 years old, have a 4-year degree or already be certified as a law enforcement officer, possess a clean criminal record, and must be a United States Citizen.
