COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - One of Governor Nikki Haley's big initiatives at the moment is her tax plan which proposes a cut in the state's income tax rate while increasing the gas tax by ten cents to fund road projects.
A poll released Thursday by North Carolina-based Public Policy Polling asked South Carolinians about parts of her plan.
According to poll results, only 32 percent of those polled support raising the gas tax by ten cents to fund roads but 58 percent of South Carolinians polled support allowing casinos into the state and using funds from those to fix state roads.
The poll did not ask any questions about the income tax cut though.
Pollsters also asked what South Carolinians thought about a law that would require domestic violence offenders to hand over any guns they own, a law which would do exactly that is up for debate in the senate right now.
Sixty-four percent of those who were polled said they would support Haley's tax plan.
