School to receive resource officer's uniform from sheriff's department

LUGOFF, SC (WIS) - The uniform of a school resource officer will be presented to the school where he worked and died.

The Kershaw County Sheriff's Office will give the uniform of deputy Rob Evans to Lugoff-Elgin Middle School this Saturday. Evans died in November 2013 while directing traffic at the school.

Evans was a 14-year veteran of the sheriff's office and was a school resource officer at Lugoff-Elgin Middle School for seven years. He also served as an assistant basketball coach and the voice of the football teams for Lugoff-Elgin middle and high schools.

The presentation is Saturday, January 31st at the middle school gym during the West Wateree Rover Athletic Conference wrestling tournament at 9 a.m. The framed uniform includes a photo of Evans, his basketball whistle and a plaque recognizing his involvement with the school.
