COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - Members of the South Carolina House of Representatives have voted to remove former Lexington County Sheriff James Metts' name from a boat landing on the Saluda River.

The measure passed the Senate Wednesday. House members approved the bill Thursday. It will be forwarded to the South Carolina Department of Transportation and Department of Natural Resources for further action.

The proposal would rename the boat ramp Hope Ferry Landing.

Metts is awaiting sentencing after pleading guilty to federal charges of bribery and conspiracy. He served as Lexington County Sheriff for 42 years before he was indicted on federal charges in 2014.
