Sam's Club on Forest Drive reopened after fire

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - The Sam's Club on Forest Drive was closed on Sunday for several hours after a freezer caught fire.

Columbia Fire Department responded to the fire at around 7:20 a.m. the fire was contained to one freezer and was extinguished by firefighters.

Fort Jackson Fire Department and Batesburg-Leesville Fire Department responded under mutual aid request for use of ventilation equipment.

After completing their investigation, Columbia Fire Department says the cause of the fire was determined to be electrical in nature.

A Sam's Club spokesperson says the store reopened at around 2:45 p.m. Sunday afternoon.

All products damaged in the fire were discarded as well as all produce that may have been damaged after sprinklers went off in the building.
