MANNING, SC (WIS) - The wife of Clarendon County Sheriff Randy Garrett was injured in a house fire in Manning on Thursday morning.

Fire crews responded to the home on Lake Shore Drive around 10:30 a.m. and saw heavy smoke.

Garrett, who was not home at the time, said his wife, Barbara, was able to escape from the home, but did suffer burn injuries to her face.

According to Fire Chief Frances Richbourg, Barbara was smoking while using her oxygen tank in a back bedroom.

Barbara was taken to the Augusta Burn Center for treatment, Garrett said.
