Man found dead in car outside Orangeburg hotel
ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) - Orangeburg police are investigating the death of a man who was found in a car outside a motel.
The Times and Democrat of Orangeburg reports 30-year-old Ricardo Sprinkle of Orangeburg was found dead in his vehicle early Wednesday morning. The vehicle was parked outside the Econo Lodge Inn and Suites on Calhoun Drive.
A police officer making rounds found the man slumped over in the drivers' seat with blood on his shirt and the car was running with the brake lights activated. He was found at about 4:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Police say he had been shot in the face. An autopsy is scheduled Thursday.
Investigators say it appears the man was shot in the face.
Authorities say they think that Sprinkle knew his assailant. It's not clear whether he was shot in the car or somewhere else.
