Richland deputies investigating deadly shooting
COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - Richland County sheriff's deputies are investigating a homicide after a man was found lying in the street with a gunshot wound early Saturday morning.
Deputies responded to the 700 block of Maryland Street around 1 a.m. for a report of shots fired, Lt. Curtis Wilson with the Richland County Sheriff's Department said.
When deputies arrived to the scene, they found the victim with a gunshot wound to the upper body, Wilson said.
Richland County Coroner Gary Watts said Michael Bryant Scott, 44, died at Palmetto Health Richland Memorial Hospital from a gunshot wound to the torso.
Wilson said deputies continue to search for any witnesses.
