CLARENDON COUNTY, SC (WIS) - A Manning woman who was involved in a fatal crash Saturday night was charged with felony DUI, said Sgt. Bob Beres with the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Beres said 45-year-old Tammy Brown was traveling east on SC 261 just before midnight when she hit the rear of another vehicle also traveling east, causing the vehicle to run off the road and strike a tree.

The driver of the vehicle died and a passenger was transported to a hospital, Beres said.

Clarendon County Coroner Hayes Samuels said 34-year-old Maurelio Deleon, of Manning, died due to chest and neck injuries sustained in the crash.

Samuels said the passenger who was transported to the hospital sustained serious injuries.

Brown was taken to the hospital, then taken to the Clarendon County Detention Center on two counts felony DUI and for transporting an alcohol container with the seal broken.

Brown is currently in the Clarendon County Detention Center on $60,000 bond.
