Missing elderly woman with Alzheimer's found safe

BATESBURG-LEESVILLE, SC (WIS) - Batesburg-Leesville police and other law enforcement agencies have found a woman who walked away from a nursing home Sunday morning.

Cora Lester, 82, was last seen around 5:30 a.m. at Generations at Batesburg at 111 Generations Blvd.

Lester was found just before 1 p.m. near the home, police tell WIS.

She's being checked out by medical personnel but is expected to be ok, police say.

Police tell WIS Lester suffers from Alzheimer's and has a history of heart problems.
