WASHINGTON, D.C. (WIS) - A Camden man was arrested Wednesday morning in Washington D.C. after police say he brought a loaded 9mm pistol inside a U.S. Capitol office building.
Dr. Ronald Prestage, the 59-year-old owner of Camden's Prestage Farms, was stopped by Capitol police for a routine search inside the Cannon House Office Building around 9:20 a.m.
During the search, police say they located a loaded 9mm Ruger in Prestage's bag.
Prestage has been since charged with carrying a pistol outside a home or business and was released from jail.
Prestage has a license to carry in SouthCarolina, but is not licensed to carry in Washington, D.C.
He is president-elect of the National Pork Producers Council.
A D.C. court set a preliminary hearing for Prestage for Aug. 13.
