Resolution passed by W. Columbia council allowing Tyndall to run for sheriff

WEST COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - West Columbia City Council passed a resolution that would allow West Columbia Police Chief Dennis Tyndall to run for county sheriff.

According to West Columbia City Clerk Mardi Valentino, the resolution was passed Tuesday during the council meeting allowing Tyndall to campaign while operating at the city's police chief.

With James Metts suspended from duty, Lewis McCarty currently holds the position as Lexington County Sheriff after being appointed by Gov. Nikki Haley.
