Arrest made in Kershaw County burning car case

KERSHAW COUNTY, SC (WIS) - Kershaw County sheriff's investigators have arrested a man in connection with the death of Antwan Dixon, the man found fatally wounded in a burning car in Camden.

Deputies arrested and charged 22-year-old Robert Wendell Simon with murder after he turned himself in to investigators Tuesday.

Simon was previously sought for questioning.

Dixon was shot while driving his car on Black River Road near Pathfinder Trail near Camden.

After a responding deputy pulled Dixon from the burning vehicle, he was airlifted to Palmetto Health Richland where it was discovered that he had been shot in the head, Sheriff Jim Matthews said.

Dixon later died.

Simon, meanwhile, was transported to the Kershaw County Detention Center to await a bond hearing.
