COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - The Richland County Coroner has identified a cyclist killed after colliding with a vehicle near Bluff Rd and Rosewood Drive Wednesday afternoon.

Gary Watts says 44-year-old Mandy Kennedy of Columbia was killed.  Her home was just down the street from the crash scene.

The collision happened just before 4 p.m. at the intersection of Bluff Rd and Rosewood Drive, Jennifer Timmons with the Columbia Police Department said.

Timmons said the initial investigation reveals that the bicyclist was traveling east on Bluff Road towards Olympia in the westbound lane of travel when a Ford Explorer was turning right from Rosewood Drive extension into the westbound lane of travel on Bluff Road.

Kennedy was hit by the vehicle and died at the scene.

"The Columbia Police Department continues to investigate whether or not charges will apply in this case," Timmons said.

The Columbia Police Department Traffic Safety Unit is investigating along with the Richland County Coroner's Office.
