COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - The PepsiCo bottling plant on North Main Street will cease production immediately, according to a release from the company.
However, the company says a majority of the employees -- approximately 250 -- will remain at the facility in some other capacity.
One hundred employees, meanwhile, will be affected by the decision.
"This difficultdecision was made with careful consideration and we're committed to providingsupport to affected employees by offering outplacement services," said the company's statement.
The statement goes on to say the plant's closing will allow PepsiCo to save money and fund future investments within the company.
