COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - The Columbia Fire Department responded to a fire at an Indian restaurant on Bush River Road late Tuesday night.

Fire department spokesperson Brick Lewis said the fire at Punjabi Dhaba started shortly before 10:20 p.m. Firefighters say there was heavy smoke coming from the building when they arrived.

CFD, Irmo, and Lexington County fire services responded to the scene.

"Right now we have significant damage on the inside," said Fire Chief Aubrey Jenkins. "We don't have a total damage estimate at this time, but if I could guess I would say in the hundreds of thousands of dollars."

No word on if anyone was injured in the fire. Fire officials have not released an official estimate of the damages.

The Richland County Fire Marshal's Office is investigating.
