SUMTER COUNTY, SC (WIS) - A man wanted in a Sumter County drug investigation in 2012 has been arrested in Charlotte.
29-year-old Brandon McCormick of Pinewood was wanted on several drug and traffic charges stemming from an arrest attempt in 2012.
Investigators found out McCormick had been living in Charlotte and police there took him into custody earlier this month. He waived extradition and was returned to Sumter County to face charges Monday.
Sumter County Sheriff's deputies say they tried to pull McCormick over in October 2012 after seeing him run a stop sign. Deputies say McCormick took off, then turned into a driveway, abandoned the car then ran off.
While running away, deputies say they saw McCormick drop two book bags that contained marijuana, cocaine and crack cocaine. Investigators say they found a handgun in one of the bags.
Officers identified McCormick by a video of the chase and arrest warrants were issued.
He is charged with second offense trafficking cocaine and crack cocaine, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of a firearm during a violent crime and failure to stop for blue lights.
