Texting crash caught on video

FORT MYERS, FL (NBC) - Video captured by a Florida police officer's dashboard camera reminds drivers the dangers of texting while driving.

Early Saturday morning, a Fort Myers police officer's dash cam caught this video.

The driver is seen weaving in and out of lanes and slowing down for no apparent reason.

The officer continues to follow the distracted driver as he makes a wide right turn and veers onto the sidewalk, hits a guardrail, bus sign and tree before rolling over to a stop.

The 23-year-old driver was able to crawl out of the car. He was not injured.

The driver was cited with careless driving and texting while driving.
