Deputies search for thief who stole copper wiring from vacant building

LEXINGTON COUNTY, SC (WIS) - Lexington County Sheriff's deputies say about $100,000 in copper was stolen from the wiring of a vacant building.

On January 2nd, deputies were called to the building in the 1600 block of Two Notch Road by the property manager.  The manager reported some time within the past month, someone broke into the vacant building and took all the copper wiring out of the walls and circuit breaker boxes.

According to the incident report, the property manager was notified of the theft by someone who was interested in buying the building.  The potential buyer noticed the building had been broken into and saw the damage.

The property manager estimated the cost of the damage and stolen copper was "well over $100,000."
