CLINTON, SC (WIS) - More than 20 different fire departments worked to extinguish the flames of a saw mill fire in the town of Clinton.

The fire at Carolina Shavings on Shady Grove Church Road started at around 11 a.m. Wednesday.

The flames were so intense that the building actually collapsed. Firefighters have also been dealing with the fact that there are very few fire hydrants in the area.

Winds and explosive tanks inside the building also made the situation much, much worse.

"We had to set up a water shuttle, and that took some time, but you can see behind me that it was a pretty big fire and, of course, we had some danger that we had to deal with with propane tanks," said public safety chief Robin Morse.

This isn't the first time the mill has been the subject of a fire scene as some 10 years ago, crews responded to another fire there.

No one was injured.
