Man sentenced to 15 years for DUI crash involving USC law student

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - A man charged with a DUI crash which nearly killed a University of South Carolina law student was sentenced to 15 years in prison Thursday.

Santos Gomez entered a guilty plea in Richland County court after prosecutors say he was driving intoxicated down the wrong side of Interstate 77 near Killian Road last September.

Law student Alan Martinez was struck head on and spent several months in the hospital.
