Columbia police officer involved in car accident

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - A Columbia police officer and a woman were injured after a car accident near Harden and Taylor Streets Sunday.

South Carolina Highway Patrol spokeswoman senior trooper Bridgett Wyatt said CPD officer Mathew Vincent, 26, was traveling east on Taylor Street with his lights and sirens on when another driver was crossing the intersection.

Authorities identified the driver of the second car as 61-year-old Vivian Armstead.

They were both taken to the hospital and are expected to be okay, Wyatt said.

SCHP continues to investigate.
