Bond set at $50K for man charged with leaving deadly crash

SUMTER, SC (WIS) - A judge set bond at $50,000 for a Sumter man charged in a deadly hit-and-run Friday night.

25-year-old Tyrone Willie Dennis of Sumter turned himself in to police early Saturday morning.  He was charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death.

Sumter Police say Dennis hit a woman who was standing next to a disabled vehicle on Broad Street near Milton Road at about 9:20 Friday night. 54-year-old Isabell Shannon of Sumter died at the scene.

Police say Dennis hit Shannon, her vehicle, and the vehicle belonging to a person who stopped to help her. According to police, after the crash, Dennis got out of his vehicle, but fled from the scene.

Officers identified Dennis as the driver, obtained an arrest warrant, and tried to find him.  Dennis turned himself in at about 5 a.m. Saturday.

Dennis is being held at the Sumter Lee Regional Detention Center.
