Miss Capital City Classic Pageant

In the spirit of promoting educational programs and athletic awareness, the Palmetto Capital City Classic is hosting The Miss Capital City Classic Pageant.  The pageant is scheduled for Sunday, August 29, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. at the Township Auditorium. A percentage of the proceeds from the pageant will benefit Benedict College and South Carolina State University's EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP FUND, which is designated to assist financially disadvantaged students who wish to pursue an undergraduate or graduate degree. The winner of this pageant is eligible to participate in the Miss South Carolina Pageant.

Tuesday, August 31- Thursday, September 2

American Red Cross Blood Drive Competition
Benedict College and S.C. State University Campuses
11:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Faculty, staff, students and community members can show their school spirit by donating blood during the competition. In Columbia, the blood drive will be held at BC Cares in the Benjamin E. Mays Building on the Benedict College campus. In Orangeburg, the blood donations will be taken at the student center in the Bulldog Lounge at S.C. State University.

The media will have the opportunity to speak with both coaches about the game and the players.

Pep Rally

Here is a chance for fans to come out and show their school spirit. The pep rally will feature each school's pep squad and members of the drum line from the S.C. State Bulldog Marching 101 and the Benedict College Marching Tiger Band of Distinction.

Join the team of the "Doug Banks Morning Show," the number one-rated urban radio program in America as they host the "Let's Jam, Jam Session." The show will feature live performances from national R&B and hip hop recording artists, interviews, music and commentary.

The Palmetto Capital City Classic invites you to the Soul Café Concert, featuring Grammy Award-winner Brian McKnight, Columbia native Angie Stone, and newcomer Anthony Hamilton. Tickets are $34.50, $42.50 and $49.50 and can be purchased through Ticketmaster.

Here is a chance for fans to take part in one of the new attractions of the Palmetto Capital City Classic. The SCE&G Vendor Village is an opportunity for game ticket holders to purchase cultural merchandise from a variety of vendors throughout the southeast.
