Mother hopeful Gabbiee will be found after missing for month
RICHLAND COUNTY, SC (WIS) - "It's a hard job," said Elvia Swainson. "Trying to find your child it is a hard job."
It's a job Swainson has taken on full-time. She took time off from work to try to find her 15-year-old daughter, Gabbiee.
Nearly 30 days have passed but Gabbiee remains missing.
Elvia says sometimes fear and discouragement show up.
"I have to push past all the emotions," she said. "I have to keep myself encouraged and uplifted. God has used a lot of people to help me stay strong."
Eliva says community support gets her through bad days.
She's concerned people will give up on Gabbiee now that investigators have a suspect in her disappearance -- 52-year-old Freddie Grant.
"It's not all over because my daughter is not home yet," she said. "That's when it's over for me when she comes home."
When asked why she believes her daughter is still alive, Elvia responded, "I have great faith. All you need is faith, as small as a mustard seed. Mine is bigger than a mustard seed."
She uses her faith and instincts. Each weekend she concentrates on new places to search.
"Running it by different folks to see if it makes sense," she said. "Because nobody wants to waste time."
Searching for her daughter is a job she'll be happy to quit when Gabbiee returns home.
"Gabrielle, Mommy still loves you baby," she said. "And she's trying to find you."
Investigators continue to search for Gabbiee. If you have any information about her whereabouts, call Crimestoppers at 1-888-Crime-SC.
