COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - South Carolina football coach Steve Spurrier hasn't said whether or not Connor Shaw or Dylan Thompson will start in Saturday's game against UAB.
In his weekly radio show, Spurrier said Shaw had thrown the ball around a little bit during practice on Thursday, but trainers have warned him not to throw too much.
"I expect him to throw it around a little bit more tomorrow," Spurrier said. "Then we'll have to make a decision Saturday night."
Shaw was injured with a deep bone bruise in the first game of the season against Vanderbilt. Despite the injury, Shaw finished the game and South Carolina defeated the Commodores 17-13.
Shaw practiced some before the ECU game, but Spurrier says he knew by Thursday of last week that he was going to start Thompson against the Pirates.
In his role as the starter, Thompson threw for 330 yards and 3 touchdowns in the 48-10 victory.
