A man accused of stealing pit bulls from a midlands animal shelter will serve six years in prison.
Dezmon Jones pleaded guilty to several charges Friday, including two counts of burglary. After entering his guilty plea, he was sentenced to six years in prison.
Jones and two others are accused of breaking into the Columbia Animal Shelter several times in early 2012 to steal more than 21 pit bulls.
Jones was arrested in February.
Many of the dogs were later found in Bamberg County, where Sheriff's deputies say they were being used for fighting.
