The man deputies say was given a beating by a female Family Dollar clerk when he robbed the business in late July has been arrested.

Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott said Crimestoppers tips led deputies to 55-year-old Warren McDaniels. He was taken into custody on Sunday on Hoyt Street.

Investigators say McDaniels walked into the Family Dollar at 1735 Decker Blvd. around 9 a.m. on July 28. Surveillance video shows a man fitting McDaniels' description reaching over the counter as a clerk was placing his money into the register.

The clerk instinctively shuts the register on the suspect's fingers as he tries to grab some money. He pushes the drawer back at the clerk and she starts hitting him in the head.

After grabbing a little over $30, the suspect eventually left the store, but not before the clerk hit him in the head with the very Oreo's he was trying to buy.

On Friday, investigators said the man who was caught on camera robbing the Family Dollar was also a person of interest in several other similar robberies.

Investigators said a man fitting the Family Dollar robber's description also hit Burger King, Taco Bell, Zaxby's, Arby's, Quick Cash Payloan and a Waffle House on Two Notch Road.

Deputies have not charged McDaniels in those robberies, but they say that the investigation is ongoing and additional arrests are forthcoming.

McDaniels is in custody at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
