Disabled children trying to win adaptive bikes

SUMTER COUNTY, SC (WIS) - A Midlands boy and girl that have been limited from enjoying life's little joys are hoping that people in the Midlands will take a few minutes to vote for them in a contest that will give 14 children very expensive adaptive bicycles.

6-year-old Kamran Lloyd has arthrogryposis and has never been able to ride a bicycle, nor has his mother been able to purchase one that would allow him to do so.

Ashliegh McCoy of Wedgefield is hoping folks will vote for her son on Friendship Circle of Michigan's Facebook page so that her son becomes one of the top 14 kids that win the $2,000 - $4,000 adaptive bicycles.

"My son needs to know that he can do the same things that other children can, even if he has to do them in different ways," said McCoy.

Emma Miles of West Columbia has Cerebral Palsy. Her mother, Cassie, is also hoping that you'll vote for her daughter. Cassie says Emma "always finds a way to laugh through the tears when her body aches or doesn't cooperate."

"An adaptive trike would give her some much needed freedom to move and to be the social little girl she is!" says Miles.
