800-pound gator washes up on shore of SC lake

PINOPOLIS, SC (WCSC) - The body of a huge alligator washed ashore at Somerset Point in Pinopolis on Wednesday.

Santee Cooper spokeswoman Mollie Gore says the dead alligator was about 12-13 feet long and weighed about 800 pounds.

It's not clear what killed the gator that had apparently made Lake Moultrie its home.

The reptile was buried in a big hole not far from where it washed up.
