Deputies find truck involved in gun heist, but no weapons

RICHLAND COUNTY, SC (WIS) - Deputies have found the truck they believe was involved in a daring gun heist early Monday morning not far from the scene of the crime.

Two people used a stolen Ford truck to drive through the wall of TT&H firearms at 8006 Garners Ferry Rd. around 2:00 a.m. and take half of the store's weapon inventory.

Richland County deputies found the truck abandoned behind a church in the area, but the guns were gone. Investigators determined that the truck was recently stolen from a business on Two Notch Rd.

The owner of TT&H Firearms, Darrell Tracht, says the burglars stole about 22 assault weapons and pistols.

Surveillance video shows the truck drive right into the building. The video, however, doesn't show the thieves well enough to provide a description.

The damage to the building and loss of inventory is estimated by the shop's owner to be around $100,000, but his main concern is getting the weapons off the streets and in the right hands again.

If you know anything about this incident, you are urged to call Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
