NORTH AUGUSTA, SC (WIS) - The Aiken County Coroner says an 83-year-old woman was struck and killed by her own car in the front yard of her home Wednesday night.
Margaret Phillips was pronounced dead at the Georgia Health Sciences hospital around 7:30 p.m.
Investigators say Phillips was attempting to park her vehicle, a 2006 Lincoln Town Car, in her driveway and check her mail when the car rolled down the steep driveway and struck her.
A neighbor noticed the car in the front yard and called 911.
Phillips was rushed to the hospital where she later died. The coroner's office says she died from multiple body trauma.
The accident remains under investigation by the North Augusta Department of Public Safety and the Aiken County Coroner's Office.
