RICHLAND COUNTY, SC (WIS) - A Columbia man is in jail on charges resulting from a deadly crash involving a motorcycle Friday night.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol charged 41-old-Christopher Webster with reckless homicide after the crash in the 4600 block of Hard Scrabble Road.

Investigators say Webster was pulling his pickup truck out of the Publix parking lot when he hit a motorcycle on Hard Scrabble Road. The crash occurred just before 6:30 Friday night.

Richland County Coroner Gary Watts says the motorcyclist, 47-year-old James Finney of Columbia,  was taken to Palmetto Health Richland where he died about 30 minute later.  Troopers say he was wearing a helmet.   His name has not yet been released.

Watts says Finney was attempting to turn into the parking lot.

Webster was not injured, according to investigators.

After the crash, Troopers say Webster was taken to Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.  There is no word on a bond hearing.
