85-year-old dies in crash with school bus
COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - An 85-year-old woman is dead following a vehicle collision with a school bus Monday afternoon, according to the coroner.
Richland County Coroner Gary Watts said the victim, Constance A. Myers of Columbia, was the front seat passenger in a car driven by her husband that struck the school bus head on.
The accident happened around 5:00 p.m. on Atlas Rd. near Richard St.
Richland One spokesperson Karen York says five students, an aide, and the bus driver were transported to a nearby hospital after some of them complained of head and neck pain.
Watts said Myers, who was restrained in the front seat of the vehicle, died at the scene. An exam conducted Tuesday shows that she died from a neck fracture.
The Columbia Police Department continues to investigate.
