COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - Several dogs stolen from an animal shelter in the city of Columbia have been recovered, but two suspects accused of taking them are still on the run.

Columbia Police have 17-year-old Raven Perry and an unidentified 13-year-old in custody.

A break came in the case when the animal shelter installed surveillance cameras that caught one of the thieves on tape.

The first incident occurred at 127 Humane Lane between Sunday, January 29, 2012 and Monday, January 30, 2012.

A similar theft occurred between Sunday, February 5, 2012 and Monday, February 6, 2012.

Columbia Police Chief Randy Scott believes the dogs were being taken into Barnwell County for possible dog fighting.

"They were traveling from Bamberg repeatedly to Columbia to do nothing but steal pit bulls and bring them back to their location," said Scott.

Police are still looking for 25-year-old Dezmon Javaris Jones along with another juvenile.

All in all, 14 of 16 stolen dogs have been recovered.

If you know anything about any of these incidents, call Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
