SPARTANBURG, SC (WYFF) - An instructor at Limestone College is accused of engaging in sex acts with a young boy while a man in California watched the molestation live via a webcam.
Limestone College Communications Director Eric Lawson said 30-year old Robert Scott Kolodzy of Gaffney was fired Saturday from his job as an assistance athletic trainer and instructor of the physical education department.
Kolodzy was arrested Thursday. The FBI said Kolodzy admitted to inappropriately touching an 8-year-old boy while video chatting with another man from San Diego.
According to the criminal complaint released by the FBI, agents in San Diego had identified a group of people who were trading child pornography. The complaint said agents identified Brian James Entzminger as exchanging emails with Kolodzy in which Kolodzy indicated he was sexually abusing the child.
Agents got a warrant and searched Kolodzy's home on Nov. 10. Investigators said during interviews, Kolodzy he admitted that he molested the boy during a webcam transmission that Entzminger watched.
Authorities said the crimes took place in Cherokee County from December 2010 through this month.
Limestone President Walt Griffin said, "He had been up for promotion to assist a professor this year. I think the strongest criticism we ever heard was that his courses were really challenging."
Griffin said Kolodzy was fired because of his confession. "We have no indication at all that any other college employee or student is involved," Griffin said. "But I've asked the college attorney to do an independent investigation on campus to be absolutely sure."
Kolodzy was being held Sunday at the Spartanburg County jail. Because the Internet was used to broadcast the webcam images, Kolodzy faces federal charges.
