SUMTER, SC (WIS) - A 15-year-old Sumter boy is dead after a Thursday morning accident in Sumter County. The South Carolina Highway Patrol says the accident happened at the intersection of Meadows Road and Highway 15 about 6 miles south of Sumter.
A spokesperson for the patrol says around 7:40 Thursday morning a car pulled onto Highway 15 off Meadows Road into the path of an oncoming SUV. The SUV struck the car on the left side, killing the boy, who was a passenger in the car.
The driver of the car was airlifted to Palmetto Health Richland in Columbia. She was wearing a seatbelt.
The driver of the SUV was not injured, according to the Highway Patrol.
The Sumter County Coroner's office has not released the name of the teen pending notification of the family.
