PROSPERITY, SC (WIS) - A Prosperity man was charged with 66 counts of animal cruelty after police served a search warrant on his home Friday.

Kenny Caldwell was also charged with one count of having a wolf in his possession without a permit, one count of doing business without a license, and one count of violating a junk ordinance.

The Prosperity police chief said someone complained to his department that dogs were running loose at a home in the 300 block of South Wheeler Street, which is located near Prosperity Elementary School.

When an officer showed up at the residence to speak with the owner, he said the officer noticed some Yorkies in the backyard didn't have any hair on them and were living in deplorable conditions.

Officers executed a search warrant on the home Friday. They found 66 small dogs and one wolf inside. Some of the dogs were in cages with puppies, according to the police chief. He added that urine and feces were found everywhere.
