LEXINGTON COUNTY, SC (WIS) - A man is dead after he drove his moped through a red light and hit a pickup truck Wednesday night, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
Lexington County Coroner Harry O. Harman said 28-year-old Pete Hildebran of West Columbia was driving his moped east on Platt Springs Rd. near White Knoll High School just after 9:00 p.m. when, for unknown reasons, he disregarded a red light and hit the side of a pickup truck driving north on Highway 6.
Paramedics took the Hildebran to Lexington Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. According to troopers, Hildebran was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The driver of the pickup truck was not hurt.
The accident is still under investigation.
