(Columbia-AP) Jan. 3, 2003 -- South Carolina prison officials are investigating the stabbings of four inmates killed or injured last month.
Tony Patterson, 38, is charged with murder in the stabbing death of Gazarro Carson at Evans Correctional Institution. At McCormick Correctional Institution, 38-year-old William Tillman is charged with murder in the stabbing death of his cellmate Michael Hodge. Broad River Correctional Institution 31-year-old inmate Chris Ford is charged with assault and battery in the stabbing of inmate Lanny Cope.
No one has been charged in the stabbing of 24-year-old inmate Dexter Webb, who was stabbed twice in the back at Evans Correctional Institution. Webb was treated for his wounds.
