(Summerville-AP) NOv. 20, 2002 - Police cars in Summerville may begin to look more like NASCAR racers.

Summerville officials say a tight budget means they can only afford to replace three to five police cars each year, instead of the ten to 12 they need.

A Charlotte, North Carolina, company leases cars for $1 for three years, but Government Acquisitions puts ads on the cruisers.

Summerville administrator Mark Williams says there will be some standards if the city agrees to the proposal. He says he doesn't want police cars on the street carrying a Hooters logo.
