Sierra Artemus is an innovative Multimedia Journalist and Television Producer with the ability to create compelling stories.
Sierra is a native of Columbia, South Carolina and a 2010 graduate of Richland Northeast High School where she also successfully completed the Cosmetology program and received her license through the South Carolina Board of Cosmetology.
She worked in esthetics while attending school and eventually earned her associate's degree in 2015 from Midlands Technical College where she sought to expand her storytelling skills with multiple writing courses, including creative writing.
She later earned her bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism from the University of South Carolina in Columbia with a minor in business and marketing.
While in school, she wrote for Home Grown Magazine, a publication that focuses on highlighting local music artists. She also served as an apprentice for a local radio station.
Sierra has utilized her talents to emcee several in-person and virtual community events along with voice-over work and freelance video editing.
In 2017, after a few months of interning at WOLO 25 / ABC Columbia, Sierra was promoted to Morning News Producer where she produced a two-hour newscast.
She began a new venture as the face of Bible Way Church of Atlas Road in 2019, as the face and digital announcer.
During the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, Sierra remained busy working as a digital content producer and media consultant helping professionals to build their platforms, create their brand, and increase viewer engagement.
In 2021, Sierra started her podcast “SiTV” Where she interviews business owners, creatives, and leaders of community initiatives to inspire young people to pursue their goals and aspirations.
Sierra also became the host of “Carolina Showcase Careers” shown on WACH FOX 57 in Columbia, SC, where she interviewed business owners and national clients.
In 2022, Sierra joined WISTV News 10 in Columbia, SC where she was key in pioneering and developing the lifestyle show “Soda City Live”, which she executively produces and hosts.
Within a year, the community-based lifestyle show became such a success that in 2023 the station decided to expand to an additional half hour.
Soda City Live highlights the very best in the Midlands from local businesses, organizations, and community events in surrounding areas.
2023 offered more room for growth for Sierra, as she was promoted to marketing and also accepted an additional opportunity to represent her Alma Mater, as Co-Host of their Alumni based digital newsletter “Inside Carolina” where she works alongside an award-winning journalist, Hannah Horne.
Sierra's passion for community extends beyond walls as she is also a huge advocate for youth and bringing change and opportunities to underserved communities. She is also passionate about bringing awareness to causes like mental health, black maternal health and domestic violence.
Earlier in her career, Sierra worked for a company whose business motto was to “listen, connect and inspire” in relation to their customers, she herself was inspired and has adopted that theme into her work.
She has a passion for people and believes it is her job to use her platform and journalistic skills to uplift the people around her.
Sierra is also a self-professed foodie that enjoys discovering fresh and local cuisine around the Midlands!
In her spare time, she also enjoys spending time with her family, relaxing on the beach and volunteering in the community.
Sierra is a leader and continues to grow as a journalist and producer to reach a broader audience.
