FIRST ALERT WEATHER: Hazy skies continue Wednesday; Big cool down this weekend
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) – We are looking at some hazy skies as smoke from the Canadian Wildfires moves back into the region.

- Large high pressure funnels in smoke from fires in Canada Wednesday.
- Air quality will be “moderate” meaning those highly sensitive need to take precautions.
- Upper 50s tonight with clear skies and more low 80s for Wednesday-Friday.
- A major cold front moves in Saturday and cools us into the 40s Sunday morning.
- Highs are in the low 70s Sunday with sunny skies.
First Alert Summary
Lows tonight will be in the upper 50s with clear skies as high pressure sits to our north.
This high, with clockwise flow will funnel in smoke from the Canadian Wildfires from the northeast tonight and into Wednesday. Models are showing a haze hanging around throughout most of the day Wednesday. Eastern flow will clear it up Thursday.
So far our air quality has been listed in the “moderate” category. That means those highly sensitive to smoke need to take precautions.
High pressure sits to our north and we have sunny skies with highs in the low 80s Wednesday and Thursday.
Expect more cloud coverage Friday as our major cold front approaches the region. This front could bring a chance of showers, but right now those chances are less than 20%. Highs are in the low 80s.
Saturday we see low 60s in the morning and highs reaching the upper 70s. Skies are partly cloudy. Sunday we see temps DROP as lows are in the upper 40s and highs reach to near 70. Skies are sunny for Sunday, and lows dip down to the mid 40s.

Wednesday: Sunny skies with highs reaching the low 80s.
Thursday: A few more clouds with a great deal of sun. Highs in the low 80s.
Friday: Some clouds mix with sunshine. Highs in the low 80s.
Saturday: Breaks of sunshine following some earlier clouds. Highs near 75-77 degrees.
Sunday: Much cooler with lows in the upper 40s and highs reach 70! Skies are sunny.
Monday: Down to 45 in the morning with highs in the low 70s.
