FIRST ALERT WEATHER - Summer heat returns for the start of the work week

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) – This might be the first week of Fall but Monday is going to feel more like Summer with highs in the upper 80s to near 90.

· Clear and cool tonight with lows in the lower 60s.

· Sunny and hot Monday with highs in the upper 80s to near 90.

· Clouds move back over the region Tuesday and will linger the rest of the work week.

· A few light showers possible Tuesday night through Friday.

After a sunny but warm day temperatures will cool off nicely tonight under mainly clear skies as lows will dip down into the lower 60s.

Monday will be another sunny and hot day with highs in the upper 80s to near 90.

A back door cold front will slide down over the Carolinas on Tuesday which will help to increase our clouds and maybe squeeze out a few light showers.

This front will then linger over the region Wednesday through Friday producing a good deal of clouds and some scattered light showers each day. With the clouds and light rain our temperatures will be on the cooler side with highs in the 70s.

The good news is sunshine looks to return just in time for next weekend with temperatures staying on the comfortable side in the upper 70s to near 80.

Monday: Mostly sunny and hot with high temps in the upper 80s.

Tuesday: Increasing clouds with a stray shower possible in the afternoon. Highs in the mid-80s.

Wednesday: Rather cloudy with some light showers are possible throughout the day. Chance of rain 30%. Highs in the upper 70s.

Thursday: Mostly cloudy with times of scattered showers. Chance of rain 40%. Highs in the mid-70s.
