Magnitude 1.7 earthquake recorded near Summerville

SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCSC) - A magnitude 1.7 earthquake was recorded in the Summerville/Sangaree area Saturday afternoon.

According to the United States Geological Survey, the earthquake happened around 1:01 p.m.

Update: This earthquake was officially rated a M 1.7 on the Richter scale, which makes this the third earthquake in the Lowcountry this year.
