FIRST ALERT WEATHER: Smoky haze continues tonight
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - A cold front will help reduce our smoky haze tomorrow, it will also bring a chance of showers.
FIRST ALERT HEADLINES
- Skies are still hazy tonight as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to filter into the region.
- Expect some showers this evening as a cold front moves in, chances of rain are 30%.
- Highs are in the low 80s with less smoke and haze for Thursday as the front helps mix out the smoke.
- Skies are sunny Friday with mid 80s, we see upper 80s Saturday.
- Sunday a 40% chance of rain moves in with our next low pressure system.
FIRST ALERT WEATHER SUMMARY
Tonight will remain hazy and smoky with a FIRST ALERT WEATHER day for air that is unhealthy to breathe for sensitive groups (those with respiratory illness). Smoke from Canadian Wildfires will continue to sit over the Midlands tonight, but will be dissipated as a cold front moves in from the north.
This cold front brings a 30% chance of rain showers and a few thunderstorms as well. Expect a 30% chance in the morning Thursday. Temperatures will cool off with highs in the low 80s.
High pressure builds over the region Friday and we see sunshine over the area. Lows are in the upper 50s and highs reach the mid 80s.
Saturday remains dry as well with upper 50s in the morning and upper 80s by the afternoon. Skies are mostly sunny.
Sunday we see a 40% chance of rain showers, in the afternoon and evening. Highs reach the upper 80s. Skies are mostly cloudy. Monday there’s a 50% chance of rain and storms with high temps in the mid 80s as a low moves through the Midwest.

First Alert Weather Day Tonight Smoke from the Canadian Wildfires will make the air unhealthy for sensitive groups. Otherwise expect a 20-30% chance of an isolated shower or storms with lows in the mid 60s.
Thursday: Partly cloudy early with isolated showers passing through with a morning/early p.m. cold front. Highs around 82.
Friday: Sunny skies with highs to the mid-80s.
Saturday: Mostly sunny and seasonable with highs nearing 88.
Sunday: More clouds build throughout the day and the chance of rain goes up by the afternoon to 40%. Highs are in the upper 80s.
Monday: Rain showers continue with a few storms possible as well. Chances are 50% with highs in the mid 80s.
Tuesday: Upper 80s with partly cloudy skies and a 20% chance of an isolated storm.
